The Paradise Ridge Fire Safe Council will be presenting Fire on the Ridge II, “Preparing the Ridge” on September 27th at the Paradise Elks Lodge at 6:30 PM, 1100 Elk Ln off of Clark Road.

In 2008, wildfires threatened our communities and resulted in thousands of ridge residents being evacuated from our homes. We all know that living in our beautiful community has risks. Each and every one of us have a responsibility for the safety of our family and community.

The Paradise Ridge Fire Safe Council was formed in 1999 to address these issues at a community level. Working with the Butte County Fire Safe Council and our many partners, much has been done to reduce the risk from wildfire.

Join in this community effort for wildfire preparedness by getting the tools you need to prepare your family and home from wildfire.  When attending, this community meeting you’ll have the chance to win an emergency preparedness go bag, pick up free community maps, visit Wildfire Ready Raccoon and get expert advice on how to keep you and your family safe from wildfire.  Refreshments will be provided!

You will learn about projects that affect you directly and indirectly and how planning for wildfire on the Paradise Ridge is a model that we hope to use in other parts of Butte County.  Some of the plans and projects that will be presented include:

  • Paradise/Upper Ridge Evacuation Plan which includes the Upper Ridge, Town of Paradise and lower Paradise, areas below the Town (newly revised June 2017).
  • Forest Thinning, Home Safety and Wildfire Safety Projects.
  • Update on local wildfires The Wall and Ponderosa Fires.
  • Emergency Preparedness.

Representatives from the following agencies will be there:

  • Paradise Ridge Fire Safe Council
  • Butte County Fire Safe Council
  • CAL FIRE
  • Butte County Public Works
  • Paradise Irrigation District
  • US Forest Service
  • California Conservation Core
  • and other community organizations will discuss past, current and future projects that will address your safety.

This is a Firewise community event, all ages and all community members are encouraged to attend.  For more information contact the Butte County Fire Safe Council at 530-877-0984.
