Watershed Stewardship Training Workshop

Thursday, February 15, 2001 - Wednesday, May 16, 2001
Redding Community Center, Redding, CA

Dennis Bowker, SRWP Watershed Coordinator, conducted a Watershed Stewardship Training Workshop on February 15-16, 2001. This workshop was hugely popular, with 24 available spaces snapped up almost immediately. The workshop was also offered on November 16-18, 2000.

Workshop topics were:

  • Defining the "Watershed Approach", Watershed Functions and River Dynamics
  • Competition, Cooperation and Trust
  • Management in Complex Systems
  • Introduction to Stewardship Principles and Building Common Strategies
  • Conflict Management
  • Goal Setting and Watershed Planning Practice

A veteran in the world of water resource management attended the workshop in November and said: "Even though the target audience was people just starting into management training for watershed stewardships, the workshop provided additional insight and was very helpful even for someone who has been working in this area for many years. Dennis discussed social cycles, and how they impact watershed groups. I found this to be a helpful tool for my own work with watershed groups, and I intend to use the principles I learned by implementing them in my existing groups."
