Statewide Watershed Program Releases Summary of Initial Outreach Efforts
Statewide WP

Next steps for the Statewide Watershed Program: the Advisory Committee is currently preparing a set of recommendations on the creation of a Statewide Watershed Program.  Once these recommendations are developed they will be broadly circulated for review and comment.  If you have comments or ideas on what the program should do in response to the report, please e-mail them to watershed@conservation.ca.gov.

Upcoming Watershed Grant Opportunity

Grants
Heads up on an upcoming grant opportunity:  the State Water Resources Control Board will issue a focused grant solicitation to implement a suite of priority actions identified in an established watershed management plan, and to measure and analyze the effectiveness within the watershed to determine and illustrate the value of collaborative community-based watershed management.  Emphasis will be placed on determining the effectiveness of community-based efforts by measuring improvements in natural resource conditions of the selected watershed(s).

It's that time of year again!  SRWP is gearing up for our annual fundraiser gala on 10/2 at the Embassy Suites on the River in Old Town Sacramento!  We are happy to welcome back to the podium, News 10 anchor and SRWP partner, Jennifer Smith as our emcee for the evening!  We are also honored to have two outstanding speakers who will share their stories and experiences working on Sacramento River Watershed issues:

Elissa Lynn, Senior Meteorologist with DWR (formerly with News 10)

River of Life
Craig Miller, producer of Sacramento River documentaries:  The Sacramento: River of Life and Region at Risk

The event would not be complete without an outstanding silent auction to include weekend getaways, outdoor adventures, and much more!  Stay tuned for your formal invitation and more information in the near future!  In the meantime, if you become a 2008 SRWP Corporate or Agency member by 8/2, your organization or agency will be recognized on all event correspondence and press releases!
